November 8th: An Evening with Lynne Oehlke, Fine Jeweler

Meet Lynne Oehlke, owner of LJO Creations, and learn about  her business up-front and personal on Wednesday, November 8 from  5:30 pm  to 7:30 pm. Join Lynne and other Focus members—bring a friend—at her home/bench at 400 W. Revere Rd., Mequon. Their  driveway is in the bend in the road between other driveways so look closely.

We will have fun learning about creating a patina, casting a botanical, taking care of silver. Bring your fine jewelry to the gathering if you are curious about alternative designs or if you wish to get a quote on selling some gold jewelry.

This is not Lynne’s first career. For much of her professional life she worked in the fields of child welfare,  as a grants coordinator/writer for Milwaukee County and UW Milwaukee and as CEO of St Catherine Residence, a two hundred unit housing facility with supportive services for women. Leaving gave her freedom of her calendar and an opportunity to grow a part-time jewelry business into a personalized service offering custom designs.

She sees her new venture as a means to develop the  her creative side, meet fun, interesting people and  to support the work of nonprofit agencies, especially those servicing women at a higher level than she might other wise be able to.

As owner of LJO Creations, Lynne Oehlke defines her mission as a fine jeweler who provides customized personal service and the highest quality jewelry at prices her customers feel comfortable affording.

While specializing in fine jewelry through her buying power with internationally known wholesalers she enjoys creating jewelry using multiple metals. She has developed skill at integrating natural stones, pearls and  “botanicals”  (dried plant material that has been cast in silver) into her creations. As a metal smith she can repair broken jewelry and finds fun in recreating or “repurposing” fine jewelry that has lost its allure, functionality and/or a mate.

Lynne’s inventory and catalogs will be available for shopping  while enjoying great company, partaking in a glass of wine or other beverage and tantalizing munchies.
